From cheetah to zebra, or even the 2020 cow print craze, animal print has been used and loved in fashion for years. This fall, there is a new print on the rise that we hope to see coming into fashion more and more — deer print.
Deers have been in fashion for longer than some may realize. Typically featured in some sort of graphic on tank tops or long sleeves, Brandy Melville and similar shops are almost always stocked with some adorable image of a fawn curled up sleeping. These animals create a sense of gentleness, and simplicity on any piece of clothing; plus, the latte-brown colour palette is perfect for an autumnal outfit.
Not to mention, deers can serve as a great last-minute Halloween costume. The simplicity of a fawn's light brown fur, and small white spots make for a cozy yet simple costume.
The best part of this costume is there are millions of ways to dress it, and every version works. If you’re struggling for time, you can create this look quite simply, with a brown top paired with a brown or white skirts and boots, focusing on recreating a deer make-up tutorial on TikTok or wearing a headband with deer ears.
Or, you could take it up a notch, using deer print in your costume, or even including your friends! Whether that's going as matching fawns with your best friend, or turning it into a woodland themed group outfit, the possibilities are endless. If you are still in need of ideas, here is some inspo we hope can help!
Gorgeous fairy costumes, such as these, would look perfect next to any adorable deer outfit.
And while I do not support the actual hunting of deers, the “hunter and deer” duo/couples costumes are definitely making the rounds for this year's Halloween.
As adorable as deer print and all animal prints are, it is vital we remember to shop ethically, and to only source faux furs/prints. According to The Humane Society, and PETA, nearly 100 million innocent animals are killed yearly for their coats. This statistic is incredibly saddening, and cruel, but by putting in the time to research where our clothes are coming from, we can help make a change to these numbers.
I hope to see the rise in deer print clothing this fall, and all the great outfits to come with it!
